The Feast of Tabernacles

Comprehending the Feast of Tabernacles in relation to today’s world

The Feast of Tabernacles is similar to the Feast of the Passover, as it has a threefold nature. It’s observed in a sequence of three ordinances, namely (1) the Feast of Trumpets, (2) the Day of Atonement, and (3) the Feast of Tabernacles. Jesus once attended the feast even though the Jewish leaders hated Him and wanted to kill Him. Though Jesus went there secretly, He revealed His presence during the middle of the feast and promised to come a second time to save the world from annihilating itself (Matthew 24:21-22). On the feast’s last day, He asked people to come and quench their deepest thirst (John 7:37). This powerful sermon is relevant even today since people now need God’s Spirit more than ever to live and bask in His light and glory. Those wondering “what is Feast of Tabernacles” and its relevance today can take a cue to feel this thirst to be one with Him, which should ideally be even more than water.

Moses and David were also given the blueprints of the Tabernacles by God, and the plans had God’s inherent glory woven into them. They indicated the return of Jesus to a House full of glory, thus making the church enter its finest hour. A look at the pattern of the Ark of the Covenant, which was created according to the pattern given to Moses, would help people see Him in all His glory and majesty. Even David received the blueprints for the temple that his son Solomon would build later. In the modern context, it becomes important to have complete faith in Him and worship Him with full devotion. This indicates how understanding the Feast of Tabernacles’ meaning can help people today.
